FleetGuru.ai Joins Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia

FleetGuru.ai has joined Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA), aligning the AI-powered fleet maintenance platform with the national body representing the country's heavy vehicle manufacturing, engineering and supply sectors. The membership marks a deliberate step deeper into heavy vehicle territory for FleetGuru.ai, the platform that grew out of more than a decade of automotive maintenance technology built by AutoGuru. Where light commercial and passenger fleets have been the platform's traditional stronghold, heavy vehicles bring a different set of pressures, tighter compliance obligations, and higher downtime costs.

Why HVIA, And Why Now

HVIA represents the businesses that design, build, maintain and supply Australia's trucks, trailers and heavy equipment. It is also one of the most active advocacy voices in the sector, campaigning for productivity reforms the association estimates could add up to $4 billion a year to GDP, alongside work on vehicle standards, engineering benchmarks and road safety.

For FleetGuru.ai, membership provides direct access to that conversation and to the manufacturers, body builders, repairers and suppliers who will ultimately sit at either end of an automated maintenance workflow. It also connects the business to HVIA's technical and industry programs, its national awards, and the events calendar that culminates in the Brisbane Truck Show.

What FleetGuru.ai Brings To The Table

FleetGuru.ai automates the administrative weight of fleet maintenance: quoting, approvals, service provider coordination and payments, supported by a set of AI agents that handle scheduling, booking and insights. The platform is used by many fleet and leasing organisations, and draws on a network of more than 12,000 service providers across Australia and New Zealand.

The same principles apply to heavy vehicles, but the stakes are considerably higher. A truck off the road isn't merely an inconvenience, it's a broken link in the supply chain. Compliance records aren't optional; they're a regulatory requirement with serious chain-of-responsibility implications. FleetGuru.ai's mission is to extend the same level of visibility and automation that has already transformed light fleet maintenance to those managing heavy vehicle fleets.

“Compliance, safety, and productivity aren't three separate problems for heavy vehicle operators, they're one problem seen from different angles. Joining HVIA means being part of the conversation that's actually solving it, not watching from the sidelines. FleetGuru.ai was built on the belief that a safer fleet is a more productive one, downtime, breakdowns, and compliance gaps cost operators far more than the systems that prevent them. We're looking forward to contributing what we've learned, and learning from an industry tackling this from every direction." — Michael Mills, General Manager, Heavy Vehicle Innovation & Advocacy, FleetGuru.ai

“Since 1968, Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) effectively represented and provided services and advanced the interests for our national heavy vehicle sector. Our industry is ever changing and growing, especially in the technology field, so we're thrilled to welcome FleetGuru.ai to the HVIA family.” — Harrison Hunkin, National Manager - Partnerships and Member Engagement. Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia

Joining At A Moment Of Regulatory Change

The timing is not incidental. The amended Heavy Vehicle National Law commenced on 1 August 2026, and the transition from NHVAS to the new Heavy Vehicle Accreditation scheme is now underway across the industry. Maintenance moves inside General Safety Accreditation, assessed through a Safety Management System lens, and the standard behind it. Structured inspection schedules, digitally documented daily checks, defects tracked and cleared in a system rather than on paper, describe good preventative maintenance whether or not an operator ever seeks accreditation.

We've written a full breakdown of what the NHVAS to HVA transition means for your fleet, including the module-by-module changes and the roadworthiness data behind the reform.

Driving Future Innovation

Membership is the starting point rather than the destination. FleetGuru.ai intends to participate actively in HVIA's technical and industry forums, contribute insight from its service network to the association's productivity and safety work, and continue building out heavy vehicle capability within the platform.

For an industry where every hour of downtime is measurable and every compliance record is auditable, better maintenance intelligence is not a marginal gain. It is the difference between managing a fleet and merely reacting to it.

If you run trucks, trailers or heavy equipment and want to see what maintenance management looks like in practice, we'd like to hear from you. Book a meeting with Michael Mills, General Manager, Heavy Vehicle Innovation & Advocacy. A short, no-obligation conversation about your fleet, your current maintenance workflow, and where the biggest time and cost leaks are hiding.
